I finally got around to feeling well enough (after the oral surgery) to host a sleep-over party for Torby's 12th birthday this weekend. Evidently, I was still medicated when I made the decision to let him invite 14 boys to the party ... because 12 of them were able to attend ... and 10 of them ended up spending the night - YIKES. Luckily, nothing was destroyed during the festivities but I will be shampooing the carpets in the game room this week :-)
Now for a quick run down of the events of this memorable evening...

We started off with Wii and Pool tournaments...
At midnight, they were engaged in the customary sleep-over pillow fight. Anders was sure they were going to throw a pillow through the TV screen - and I was worried about heads cracking against the stone fireplace.
And in the wee hours of the morning they were competing in sleeping bag races down the stairs...

These races ended up in some pretty impressive dog-piles... it's a wonder nobody broke any bones ... and a good thing boys are built tough!
I'm a huge tom-boy at heart so I loved every minute of their innocent-albeit-wild games. What a great bunch of boys. We are blessed that our children have made wonderful friends since we have moved here. I'm cherishing these last few years of Torby's childhood... of course he's not a child - he's a TWEEN ... but you know what I mean ;-) He will be off to college and serving a mission before I know it.
... accompanied by the consumption of lots of unhealthy foods ... the good stuff that boys thrive on like chips, pizza, soda, etc.
I found Kyra back up on the very stool she fell from 3 weeks ago when she broke her arm. NO FEAR, I tell ya - NO FEAR in that little girl.
We drank Frappe (pronounced with a French twist - with a long A at the end) with our birthday cake (it's a Brinkerhoff family recipe reserved for special occasions, think home-made sherbet with sprite poured over the top - sugary delicious!).
Torby ALWAYS has an ice-cream cake for his birthday - he's not a big fan of cake...but ice cream?... BRING IT ON!!!
Once we had the boys all hyped-up into a sugar-induced frenzy, they headed out to the hot tub. And of course they took turns daring each other to jump into the pool which is running about 50 degrees right now. I pray these boys don't all have pneumonia next week...

I love you son. I hope your party was all that you had envisioned and that you'll have many fond memories of this past year as you transitioned from elementary school to middle school, and from primary to the young men's program. You always make me proud and we are so blessed to have you in our family. Continue to be a good example to your friends and your little sisters and you will be continually blessed by your Father in Heaven.
WE LOVE YOU TORBJOR (even if we were all a little crabby the following day - due to LACK OF SLEEP)!!!
