Remember this past summer,
when the price of gas shot up over $4 per gallon ...
... and then everyone panicked ...
... and sold their gas guzzling SUVs AT A HUGE LOSS ...
and then they ran out and bought
horrendously overpriced
HYBRIDS???

SUCKERS ! ! !
I saw signs like this all through the weekend during our holiday travels. I even saw gas below $1.50 per gallon just north of the Georgia border.
Yes, we still have our gas guzzling SUV.
In fact, last August when everyone else was dumping their SUVs
we took advantage of the great pricing
and traded our older bright yellow H2 in for a new black one.
I'd drive my precious cargo around in an armored tank if I could...
but this will have to do... for now ;-)

Guess what?
Even if gas jumps back up over$4 per gallon
after OPEC cuts production
(don't even get me started on OPEC)
we'll still be driving our "SUV for 7"
because Per telecommutes ...
which means there are many days a week
that this vehicle doesn't even leave the garage.
So when I occasionally get approached by a stranger
in the grocery store parking lot
about the enormous carbon footprint I'm leaving on this fine planet,
I kindly inform my hybrid-driving interrogator
that my husband telecommutes and in doing so he's actually
consuming less gas per year than the average "greener" in his hybrid.
By the way, I don't get approached by many folks in the grocery store parking lot
because I order my groceries on-line and have them delivered ...
which means my groceries get carpooled to my home once each week ...
just so you don't think I'm totally opposed to reducing my family's carbon footprint ;-)
I'll blog more tomorrow about our holiday adventures.
We went to visit Per's brother Nils
and his wonderful family in Savannah, Georgia.
Right now I need to unwind from today's very long car ride in a nice hot bubble bath ...
probably end up with 3 little girls in there with me
so I doubt I'll get much unwinding in ... but it's worth a shot!!!
Hope your Thanksgiving Holiday was great
and don't anyone let the media get you worked up
into a panic this holiday season -
like they did with the gas frenzy.
They are working hard to convince everyone
that we're headed into a massive recession
that will be long lasting and far reaching
but I noticed sales on Black Friday this year
actually exceeded last year's sales by 3%.
Hmmmm, I can't wait to see what they cook up tomorrow
to convince us that the sky is falling ;-)
I'm taking a positive outlook -
we're going to bounce back from this economic downturn.
So turn the TV off,
enjoy your holidays,
and continue to count your blessings!!
