Check out these DELICIOUS little dresses!!!
The girls helped me make these silky beauties this past spring and today was probably the last time they'll get to wear them this year (we made 'em a little big so hopefully we'll get some use out of them next spring).
We had so much fun working on these together. Annika and Kyra would cut and pin scraps of fabric for hours - we had sewing pins scattered all over the house for weeks (let me just say OUCH). Brynn was really helpful with pinning the patterns and helping with the cutting (she has a dress that matches Kyra's but she didn't feel like wearing it today). And they all fought over who's turn it was to sit on my lap and push the reverse button (on my command) - a little stressful for ME trying to make sure we didn't have any little fingers creeping near the whizzing needle.
We're just getting started on some Christmas skirts now but all those tiers on the summer dresses took a TON of time so we're aiming for something a little easier this time around.
Several people have asked me how I find the time to sew but this is something that helps me de-stress and I love the one-on-one time with the girls. Hopefully they'll come to enjoy sewing as much as I do...And on a totally different subject .... we have a new face in the house!
Meet Anders - our new foreign exchange student from Norway. We hadn't planned on taking another exchange student this year - we're still missing Jolien too much and we could never replace her!!!! But the host family he's been staying with the last couple months couldn't host him any longer so we met him last Sunday and instantly felt a connection (must be the common Scandinavian heritage!)
Anders moved in yesterday (Jolien - Brynn wants you stay in her room when you come and visit now) and we've had a lot of fun showing him around the area and getting to know him a little better. We took him to church today and everyone asked if he was Per's younger brother - again must be that common Scandinavian heritage! We're looking forward to having Anders in our family the next several months (he's here until May) and introducing him to some North American traditions while he teaches us about his Norwegian traditions.

Anders has been the kicker for the high school football team in the Glencliff area the past couple months and he also loves playing soccer and tennis. Per is really excited to have a new tennis partner - I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time at the courts the next few months. He's also an excellent student and is very kind and courteous. I'll have to put an updated photo of him on the blog soon but I didn't want to stalk him with a camera on his first weekend here!
